A Pile Of Brush, Journeying To The Sea

The pile of brush in the back yard is diminishing rapidly. It was my intention to allow it to return to the soil from whence it came, but married life does not work that way. I was ordered to get rid of it, and burning was not to be an option!

For the past three weeks, I've been breaking it up into tiny pieces to put into trash cans for the garbage men to haul away. I noticed that if I cut or break the pieces small enough, I can dump them back onto the soil. No one would be the wiser without close scrutiny, so I've been doing a little of both.

This morning, I decided to take that portion of the pile which contained the vicious cuttings from the wicked firethorn, and put these pieces into a trash can to set out at the curb. I had a can almost full, and thought I'd take a photo, then my conscience took over. I could not do this to innocent, hardworking people whose job it was to serve my needs. I dumped it back onto the pile to be dealt with later. Instead, I took a branch and used it for a photo. I discovered that the shadow of this beastly plant looks fully as menacing as the plant itself! They almost seem to conspire.

That is a fabulous photo...wish I'd taken it myself. Very artistic. This is the kind of thing I'd love to hang on my bedroom wall when it is finished...

Said it before, I'll say it again. Nice shot, Willie.
